Marquette’s 2015-16 schedule is finally complete. The Golden Eagles and Big East released the entire conference slate Tuesday afternoon. Marquette kicks off the conference season with a visit from Seton Hall Wednesday, Dec. 30 at the BMO Harris Bradley Center. They conclude the regular season with a trip to Indianapolis to face the Butler Bulldogs at Hinkle Fieldhouse Saturday, Mar. 5

At the recent open practice, I was able to get my first glimpse of freshman Sacar Anim, the 6’5” 205 lb. forward from De LaSalle High School in Minneapolis. Anim has recently changed from a perimeter guard/forward to power forward. I can understand what the coaching staff saw as he plays bigger than 6’ 5” frame. In fact, he reminds me of several past Marquette players who were 6’ 5”

Earlier this year, Andrew Rowsey, 5-10, 175 G from UNC Asheville, decided to transfer to the Marquette men’s basketball program. Rowsey arrived on campus this summer and has two years of eligibility with the Golden Eagles after redshirting in 2015-16 due to NCAA transfer rules. A native of Lexington, VA., Rowsey was a Second Team All-Big South Conference honoree in 2014-15.

Germantown Head Coach Steve Showalter has resigned from his head coaching duties at Germantown HS to become an assistant coach to Lance Randall at Lindenwood University, a D-2 program in St. Charles, Missouri. In 15 seasons coaching the Warhawks, Showalter had a record of 286 – 81 (.779 and his team won D-1 WIAA titles in 2012, 2013 and 2014 before losing to a Sam Hauser lead Stevens Point team

On Sunday, Andrew Rowsey, 5-10 UNC Asheville transfer guard, announced he had committed to Marquette. He announced it via Twitter. The Big South player averaged 19.7 pts per game for Asheville and shot over 37% from three.

MILWAUKEE — The Majerus Family Foundation has given a gift of $1 million to Marquette University to create the Rick Majerus Endowed Scholarship, honoring the late Marquette alumnus and college basketball coaching legend. The scholarship will provide tuition support to first-generation students in Marquette’s Helen Way Klingler College of Arts and Sciences who demonstrate financial need.

Traci Carter, a point guard out of Burlington, New Jersey, announced Tuesday morning he will attend Marquette University next fall. Carter chose Marquette over Xavier, UConn, La Salle and Memphis, according to reports. Carter visited Xavier Feb. 28 and made his official visit to Marquette last Saturday for the team’s regular season finale.
