Matthews' first basket came on a fastbreak dunk. Later in the first, he connected on a three-point shot with six seconds remaining to cut Milwaukee's lead down to six.
The second-year pro's highest scoring output came in the second quarter with nine points. Those baskets came on three lay-ups and a three-point shot.
Matthews' only other field goal came early in the fourth quarter on a fastbreak lay-up.
Matthews also recorded five rebounds and four assists, but committed three turnovers in just under 28 minutes on the floor.
Head coach Nate McMillan on Matthews:
"Wesley came in and brought some energy. Scrappy defensively, but offensively I thought he was aggressive tonight."
"My teammates were finding me and I was able to make plays. Brandon Roy is going to draw a lot of attention. L.A. (LaMarcus Aldridge) is going to draw a lot of attention. You've got to move and make the game easy for them. By doing that, you get open looks."
