MU falls to ND, 80-75

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Ben Hansbrough scored a career-best 28 points and Notre Dame (16-4, 5-3 Big East) overcame a 12 pt deficit in the second-half as the Irish beat Marquette 80-75 . ND improved to 13-0 at home. Darius Johnson-Odom had 25 points to lead Marquette (13-7, 4-3). Jae Crowder added 15 before fouling out and Jimmy Butler scored 12.

Tyrone Nash, added 13 points and Carleton Scott who did not play in the game won by MU last week, had 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Marquette coach Buzz Williams said the, "They shot 22 FTs in second half. You cannot win when 35% of their pts are from the free throw line. That is why they are undefeated at home. [biggest concerns]The 22 FT and [ND's]8 off reb, that is a bad combo . we cannot win when other team shoots 54%.

"We must get stops to go in transition . We played ball out of net after basket [after made basket] or after a [made] FT. In the 2nd half, we got some good paint touches and looks down low but we were not able to make them.

Junior Cadougan continued he improved play scoring 7 point along with 4 assists. Buzz Williams said, "Junior was really good. He was attacking in both halves Even vs the zone…he does such a great job creating shots for others and is really important for what he is doing…

[on Joe Fulce] I must find ways to increase his time. I would rather deter when he plays and look for the right matchup[as opposed to being forced to play Joe when Jae has foul trouble.]
