MU over ND, by the Numbers

Here is Sarah Barshop looking at MU's win by the numbers.

25 – Consecutive Wins at the BMO Harris Bradley Center

The home winning streak continued for the Gold Eagles, who beat Notre Dame 72-64 in their 25th straight home win at the BMO Harris Bradley Center. Marquette won all 16 home games this season, and has won 18-straight Big East matchups.

This winning streak is the second-longest winning streak in NCAA Division 1 basketball. South Dakota State is first on the list with 30 consecutive wins at Frost Arena.

Head coach Buzz Williams noted how important the fans have been to the winning streak in his Senior Day speech, as well as in his press conference after the game. Williams said he should say "thank you to all the people who have contributed to that," and senior guard Junior Cadougan said there was "nothing better" than the support the fans have given this year.

117 – Number of games Marquette has played against Notre Dame

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish leads the all-time series against the Marquette Golden Eagles, 80-37. The 117 games are the second to only the number of games the Golden Eagles have played against Wisconsin (118).

Marquette is 7-5 against Notre Dame in the Big East, and 7-6 at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.

19,093 – Attendance at the BMO Harris Bradley Center

The announced attendance of 19,093 was the second-largest crowd ever to see a Marquette men's basketball game at the BMO Harris Bradley Center, and is the second largest to see a college basketball game in state of Wisconsin.

7 – Consecutive wins at home against ranked opponents

The Golden Eagles have won their last seven games at home against ranked opponents. This includes back-to-back wins against ranked opponents – against No. 12 Syracuse and No. 21/20 Notre Dame – which was the first time Marquette has beat ranked opponents in consecutive games since besting No. 20 Xavier and No. 12 Syracuse in the 2011 NCAA Championship.

Chris Otule

16 – Points scored by senior center Chris Otule

The 16 points weren't a career-high for Otule – that came in his 19-point performance against Longwood in the 2010-11 season – but it was a season-high. Otule was a perfect 8-for-8 from the floor, and had four rebounds and one assist in 25 minutes. Williams said after the game that "Chris changes the complexion of [the] team."
