Davante Gardner has always been a PG trapped in a 275 lb PF's body. When first learning the game in grade school, he was a skinny PG who could dribble, pass and shoot, especially FTs. By 6th grade, he started to grow into the post player that he is today. This summer, Gardner is working hard to improve his outside shot and passing abilities at a new position, at PF playing with C Chris Otule.
For three yrs, Gardner has shown a knack for hitting cutters and throwing the ball into the post with timing and feel. Buzz Williams and his staff might be adapting the MU offense to utilize his passing skills at PF.
Here is my 6 min audio of my interview with Gardner.
