Henry Ellenson Verbals to Marquette

Henry Ellenson, a 6’10’’ forward from Rice Lake, Wisc. has committed to Marquette according to multiple reports. Ellenson, whose brother Wally transferred to Marquette last July, is the fourth-ranked prospect in the nation by ESPN.com.

Ellenson could be a program changer for the Golden Eagles, who suffered a disappointing 17-15 season last year after reaching the Elite Eight in the 2012-13 season. This signing certainly makes up for the departures of several recruits from Buzz Williams’ 2014 recruiting class after he fled to Virginia Tech.

Ellenson is the focal point of an already impressive recruiting class that features four-star recruits Nick Noskowiak, Haanif Cheatham and Matt Heldt. The addition of Ellenson has already moved Marquette’s class up to the fourth-best recruiting class for 2015, according to 247sports.com

New head coach Steve Wojciechowski was praised for his recruiting ability as an assistant at Duke and he is following through proficiently. Landing Ellenson is an enormous addition for a program that looked to be entering a transitional period as “Wojo” begins a new era of Marquette basketball. Although the 2014-15 season may not have a great amount of upside, Ellenson’s arrival next fall could put Marquette back on the map much quicker than expected.
