Three-star Anim chooses Marquette

Sacar Anim, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard from De La Salle high school in Minneapolis will be attending Marquette next fall. Anim, who reportedly visited Marquette a week ago, made the announcement Monday afternoon.

Anim is listed as a three-star prospect by ESPN.com and 247Sports.com. ESPN has him as the 36th best shooting guard in the Class of 2015 and the second best player in Minnesota.

Anim is an excellent slasher and excels at attacking the rim off the dribble. Once he gets to the rim, he has a nifty scoring ability even in traffic. He is a long and athletic defender who can guard different positions. His perimeter shooting isn’t quite as consistent as it needs to be. He will likely be a swing man playing both guard and small forward.

[Anim was primarily a defensive stopper until his Sr year when he began to break out at the offensive end where he is averaging 25.2pts/ 6 Rebs and 1.5 Steals per game]

A comparison for Anim is sophomore shooting guard JaJuan Johnson.

The newest Golden Eagle joins Henry Ellenson, Haanif Cheatham and Matt Heldt in head coach Steve Wojciechowski’s first recruiting class at Marquette. Anim was recruited by Big East rival Creighton and in-state rival Wisconsin and received offers from Northwestern, Northern Iowa, Drake, Indiana State, Lehigh and Rhode Island.
