MU beats tough Sacred Heart team 77-72
MU beats Sacred Heart 77-72...extending its non-conference home winning streak to 24. Tom Crean called Sacred Heart the best home opponent they have played other than Notre Dame. Here are some quick points: Travis Diener scored 22 points including a big three with less than 2 min to go…Diener picked up 3 quick fouls in the second half then was called for a key 4th foul on what looked like a charge with 10 min left and he sat until 5min mark…backup PG Karon Bradley was unable to play after injuring his knee [outside of knee] in a shoot-around drill earlier in the day…Joe Chapman had to play point…PG Brandon Bell was called into action and hit a basket but is fighting thru a deep thigh bruise which has limited his mobility…Merritt had 4 unforced turnovers and Sanders two which kept the game close…Sanders had two big baskets late in second half including a 3 pt play…TC was happy they won without Travis for long periods …Diener was effective playing a little 2G with Chapman at PG ….Dameon Mason continued to impress with his post up game…he went 5-7 from the field…this Sacred Heart team was quick and well coached….it lost to Boston College 72-70 on Dec 14th….
