St Louis Preview

After losing to Memphis 89-71 last Saturday at the Brad.Center, in what might be the team's last opportunity to turn their regular season around, Marquette will face St Louis tonight at 8p.m. The team is 2-3 on the road in CUSA with losses to Southern Miss, Charlotte and DePaul. The last time the two teams met, Travis Diener banked in a jump shot with 6 sec.left and deflected the inbounds pass forcing SLU's Reggie Bryant to throw up a prayer from center court. MU won that game at the BC 61-59.

The Golden Eagles are 13-8 overall and are 4-6 on league play while the St Louis is 5-5 in league play and 12-9 overall. In his five years at MU, Coach Tom Crean is 8-1 in 9 meetings against Saint Louis and is 3-1 on the road in Saint Louis. The Golden Eagles have won the last seven contests against the Billikens, so the momentum is in their favor. The Billikens, however, are coming off a 46-45 win over Charlotte Saturday, a team that defeated Marquette 84-76 on Jan. 20. Saint Louis held Charlotte to its lowest point total of 45 and shooting percentage at 34.6 percent for the season. Coach Brad Soderberg has pointed to this game for weeks. The Billikens will be ready.
