On Wednesday August 2nd, Class of 2008 wing Nick Williams of Le Flore High School in Mobile, AL went public with the news that he had committed to play collegiate basketball for Marquette University and head coach Tom Crean. The fast rising junior to be also considered offers from Alabama, Auburn, Cincinnati, Florida State, Miami, Mississippi State, Missouri, Oklahoma and Ole Miss. MarquetteHoops.com went one on one with "Big Nick" to introduce him to Golden Eagle fans. This is part one of a two part interview.

MarquetteHoops.com: Congratulations on your decision to come to Marquette!

Nick Williams: Thank you sir, it feels great. I can't wait!

MarquetteHoops.com: I have seen you listed anywhere from 6'3 – 6'5, how tall are you?

Nick Williams: 6'4 ½ almost 6'5. The doctor says I might grow a little more, but I don't think so. My dad is only 6'0 so I have already outgrown everyone in my family.

MarquetteHoops.com: Who are the biggest influence in your life, on or off the court?

Nick Williams: My mom – Gloria Williams, my high school coach, Otis Hughley and my dad, Harold White.

MarquetteHoops.com: What do people not know about you?

Nick Williams: My whole life I always played in the post, this is my first year playing a wing position.

MarquetteHoops.com: What do you like to do off of the court?

Nick Williams: Not much, I'm always playing basketball, so when I'm not I just watch TV – always Sports Center. When my friends come over the first thing they say is "Are you watching Sports Center again? Don't you ever get tired of that?" Never.

MarquetteHoops.com: You got an up close look at Marquette when you went to Milwaukee for Marquette's Elite Camp, what was that like?

Nick Williams: It was a great atmosphere – the players never pressured me about anything, they just made me feel like I was one of the guys and I felt very comfortable there.

MarquetteHoops.com: Todd Rosiak reported that your Dad was a "die-hard MU fan"? How did that happen?

Nick Williams: I don't even know. The first time that coach Crean was on the phone with me and my dad, my dad started telling all of these Al McGuire stories, things that I never knew. He always loved the way Marquette played, and knows more about Marquette than I ever thought he did.

MarquetteHoops.com: What is the #1 Reason why you picked Marquette?

Nick Williams: I felt like it was the best place for me to come and get the chance to play right away. Dominic, Wes & Jerel are great and I will come in and replace them when they're gone. Coach Crean is a great person and to have him work with me every day will help me become a better player, and that is the biggest reason why I want to come to Marquette.

Stay tuned for Part II of the Nick Williams interview, Nick will describe his game and get more into his recruitment…
