MarquetteHoops.com: Was there a Coach other than Crean that played a major role in your recruitment?
Nick Williams: It seemed like Coach (Bennie) Seltzer was at every one of my AAU games, and I always felt more relaxed and comfortable when I would see him there. I talked to him a lot over the summer and he always made me feel good telling me to take my time in making my decision, and that was important to me.
MarquetteHoops.com: How much of a role did the Big East play in your decision?
Nick Williams: The Big East played a very big role – It is the best competition, and to be able to play in Madison Square Garden? That's where you dream of going. Just look at all of the players from the Big East getting drafted every year - the Big East played a huge role.
MarquetteHoops.com: What was it about Tom Crean that made you say, ‘I want to play for him'?
Nick Williams: Every time I talked to him he always talked about how he could help me to become a better player. He would tell me about the things he would have me do when I would get to Marquette that would help to develop my skills. He also told me about how he would use me in the offense and he even drew up some plays that he would run with me and that was great. Man, I can't wait!
MarquetteHoops.com: What are the strongest parts of your game?
Nick Williams: I can get to the rack a lot – I am on the wing a lot and I can drive and finish. My three point shot has gotten a lot better too.
MarquetteHoops.com: What about a weakness, what do you need to improve on?
Nick Williams: I need to start seeing the floor a lot better. Also, I need to become a better dribbler with my right hand.
MarquetteHoops.com: Your right hand? I thought you were right handed?
Nick Williams: Yeah, when I was younger people told me I couldn't dribble with my left hand, so I made it a point to always use my left hand. In the end, even though I am right handed, I handle the ball better with my left.
MarquetteHoops.com: What position do you see yourself playing at Marquette?
Nick Williams: I will play both of the wing spots, a combo of the 2-3.
MarquetteHoops.com: What do Marquette fans have to look forward to from Nick Williams and the Le Flore this coming year?
Nick Williams: We will be stacked. We have four returning starters. I was always the youngest on the team – I'll be a junior and we will have 9 seniors, so we will be tough to beat.
MarquetteHoops.com: Thanks for your time and again, congrats on your decision to go to Marquette!
Nick Williams: Thank you sir, and watch out Marquette fans – I'm coming and I'm coming strong!
