Jerry Sichting is MU's Newest Assistant Coach

On Monday Marquette Coach Tom Crean lost assistant coach Dan Panaggio to the NBA as the Los Angeles Lakers hired him to become the head coach for their developmental team, the Los Angeles D-Fenders. Tom Crean wasted no time in hiring a replacement as former Boston Celtic Jerry Sichting was named to the staff as Panaggio's replacement.

Tom Crean wasted no time in hiring a replacement as former Boston Celtic Jerry Sichting was named to the staff as Panaggio's replacement according to Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal/Sentinal.

Sichting grew up in Martinsville, IN and has been inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame for his play there under Sam Alford. Sichting went on to play at Purdue where he was named All-Big Ten his senior year.

Sichting was drafted by the Golden State Warriors in the 4th round of the 1979 draft and spent 10 years in the NBA highlighted with a Championship with the '86 Boston Celtics.

Sichting has been an assistant coach in the NBA for 10 years and was most recently an assistant coach with the Minnesota Timberwolves as well as being the T-Wolves Director of Scouting and Player Development.

Jerry is married to his wife Joni, and they have four kids, Jared, Jason, Jordan and Jenna. Jered was a walk-on for Marquette's 2003 Final Four team.
