The body of UW-LaCrosse student Luke Homan, missing since early Saturday, was recovered in the Mississippi River in LaCrosse this morning. Luke is the son of Jerry Homan, a member of the 1974 Marquette team that made it to the NCAA Finals.

Luke was a star basketball player at Brookfield Central High School and went on to play two years of college basketball at UW-Milwaukee as a walk-on before transferring to UW-LaCrosse this year.

Luke's friends reported him missing early Saturday when he failed to show up for a scheduled golf game. He was last seen at approximately 2:15 am on Friday night where he was celebrating Oktoberfest in downtown LaCrosse.

Friends and family members from all over the state travelled to LaCrosse to assist in the massive search efforts. Trained dogs had traced scents to the edge of the Mississippi River where dive teams began their search early this morning. Shortly before 10:00 am they recovered the body of the missing student.

Luke always had a smile on his face and was a frequently seen at the Bradley for Marquette home games with his parents, unless there was a time conflict with one of his own games.

All of us at Marquette Hoops.com send our thoughts and prayers to Jerry and Patti Homan for the very sad and tragic loss of their son.
