MU loses to Georgetown, 76-58

Marquette lost its battles with the flu and with Georgetown as the #22 rated Hoyas beat the #11 Golden Eagles, 76-58, at the Verizon Center on Saturday. Marquette could not stop Georgetown big men including forward Jeff Green[24 points] and 7-3 Center Roy Hibbert [23 points]. Marquette lost its battles with the flu and with Georgetown as the #22 rated Hoyas beat the #11 Golden Eagles, 76-58, at the Verizon Center on Saturday. Marquette could not stop Georgetown big men including forward Jeff Green[24 points] and 7-3 Center Roy Hibbert [23 points]. The loss snapped the Golden Eagles [21-5, 8-3] 8 game conference winning streak and left them in a tough fight for one of the 4 Big East Tournament first round byes with Pitt, Georgetown, West Virginia and Louisville.

Slowed by the flu, MU's Sophomore guards could not hit from the outside and could not stop Georgetown's 19-2 run late in the second half. MU was lead by Ousmane Barro's double double[14 pts/13 rebs] and freshman forward Lazar Hayward who had a breakout game with 14 points.
