Marquette vs DePaul - Tale of the Tape

Tom Crean and the Marquette Golden Eagles will look to rebound from their loss to Georgetown in Rosemont tonight as they take on the DePaul Blue Demons. Here are the Blue Demon players to keep an eye on for tonight.

Coach: Jerry Wainwright, in his 2nd season with DePaul, has a 26-26 record for the Blue Demons. Also has a 212-170 career record over 13 seasons.  Has an 0-2 record against Marquette.

Interesting Facts: Tom Crean is 11-3 against DePaul and Draelon Burns is a Milwaukee native, having attended Custer High School.

#3 Draelon Burns: a 6'4" junior guard from Milwaukee, WI.  Averaging 11.0 ppg, 2.7 rpg, and 2.0 apg on 46.0% shooting from the field (99-215) and 40.2% shooting from beyond the arc (35-87).  Shoots only 63.6% from the line.  Leads the team in steals with 25.


#11 Sammy Mejia: a 6'6" senior guard from the Bronx, NY.  Averaging 13.2 ppg and 6.4 rpg, and 2.72 apg on 45.6% shooting from the field (130-285) and 33.3% from beyond the arc (30-90).  Shoots only 57.7% from the line (41-71), leads the team with 55 turnovers, second with 24 steals. 


#5 Karron Clarke: a 6'6" junior forward from Brooklyn, NY.  Averaging 7.4 ppg and 3.9 rpg on 52.6% shooting from the field (70-133) and 42.6% from beyond the arc (23-54).  Only shoots 60.5% from the line, has committed the least fouls of any DePaul starter with 39.


#5 Wilson Chandler: a 6'8" sophomore forward from Benton Harbor, MI.  Averaging 14.8 ppg, and 7.0 rpg on 45.8% shooting from the field (149-325) and 31.0% from beyond the arc (27-87).  Leads the team in blocks with 38 and points scored with 371.


#32 Lorenzo Thompson: a 6'8" senior forward/center from Chicago, IL.  Averaging 1.3 ppg and 1.1 rpg on 47.8% shooting from the field (11-23).  Is an 80% free throw shooter, has made 13 starts, but only averages 6.0 mpg. 


Key Reserve:

#44 Keith Butler: a 7'1" senior center from West Medford, MA.  Averaging 1.6 ppg and 2.2 rpg on 48.3% shooting from the field (14-29).  Is only a 16.7% free throw shooter (1-6).
