One of the elite high school basketball teams in the nation and unbeaten squads from Cuba City, Milwaukee Bay View, Oconomowoc, Oshkosh North, Racine St. Catherine's and Wisconsin Lutheran will converge on the Al McGuire Center Friday and Saturday for the fourth annual Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook Shootout, sponsored by Time Warner Cable Sports 32.

Action in the 23-team, 18-game event gets underway at 8:30 a.m. on Friday with Catholic Central of Burlington taking on Shorewood. Nine games will be played each day, with sessions one and three featuring five games and sessions two and four including four games.

National powerhouse Christian Life Center of Humble, Texas near Houston will compete in this year's WBY Shootout with games against defending WIAA Division 1 champion Wauwatosa East set for 8 p.m. Friday followed by a contest against perennial state power Whitefish Bay Dominican at 8 p.m. Saturday.

Christian Life Center is led by 6-foot-1 senior point guard Junior Cadougan, a Toronto native who is currently ranked No. 50 among national prospects in the class of 2009 by Scout.com.

Cadougan, a key member of Marquette's nationally ranked recruiting class, is averaging 21 points, eight assists and four steals per contest.

"Junior has really, really been playing well," Christian Life Center coach Carlos Wilson said. "He's down to 205 pounds and is probably in the best shape he's been in since he broke his foot last season.

"I know he is really looking forward to the trip to Milwaukee. He wants to be at his best for the Marquette fans and coaches who come to watch him."

Wauwatosa East brings a 6-1 record into the contest and is currently ranked No. 7 in the state among Division 1 schools in the Wishoops.net Coaches Poll. The Red Raiders feature a potent senior class led by guards Eric Williams and Keondre Gholston.

Dominican beat two out-of-state teams this week to run its record to 6-1. The Knights are ranked fourth in the state among Division 3 schools and are led by seniors Jerrel Harris and Mark Pace.

Wisconsin Lutheran and St. Catherine's currently sit atop the Divisions 2 and 3 poll, respectively, and are set to square off at 5 p.m. Saturday.

Wisconsin Lutheran improved to 6-0 with a 54-29 victory over Slinger Tuesday and is led by junior wing Flavien Davis and senior point guard Cedquon Holmes.

St. Catherine's has won WIAA state titles in three of the past four seasons and is poised to challenge for another Gold Ball this time around behind an extremely deep and talented senior class. Guard Jake Thomas signed a Division I scholarship to South Dakota in the fall and tops the list of returning players for longtime coach Bob Letsch.

Fox Valley Association powerhouse Oshkosh North comes into the WBY Shootout with a 5-0 record and has emerged as the team to beat in the always tough 10-team conference. Coach Frank Schade has a pair of proven seniors in guard Nate Wara and forward Tank Johnson.

Oshkosh North will meet Menomonee Falls, which features freshman sensation J.P. Tokoto, at 11:30 a.m. on Friday before taking on Catholic Memorial, which is led by junior guard T.J. Bray, at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

Time Warner Cable Sports 32 plans to broadcast all of the games on Saturday. Games from session three will be shown on a tape-delay basis while games from session four will be shown live.

The Al McGuire Center is located on the Marquette University campus. Parking is available from the new Marquette parking structure located two blocks from the McGuire Center.

Tickets for the WBY Shootout will be sold at the door. Tickets are $5 for students and $8 for adults and are good for an entire session.
