Junior Cadougan and Latavious Williams led Christian Life (Texas) to a win on day 1 of the WBBY

MILWAUKEE-After a slow start, Christian Life (Humble, Texas) pulled away from Wauwatosa East (Wis.) by a score of 63-51 in the WBBY Classic at Marquette's Al McGuire Center on Friday.

Marquette recruit Junior Cadougan quarterbacked the Cougars with 19 points and 8 assists. He shot 6-of-11 from the field, including 3-of-5 from downtown. He did more than just contribute on the stat sheet. Cadougan acted as a coach on the floor and could be seen directing his teammates around the court.

"I've led these guys to a 14-0 record," said Cadougan. "They're listening to me as [their] general. That's my position. I've been playing point guard all my [entire] life and I'm coming to a big time, high-level program in Marquette. I can't be shy – I've got to be vocal out there. I've got to take control of my team."

Despite looking comfortable running the team and managing the offense, there are some things that Cadougan would like to work on before arriving on campus as a student.

"Right now I'm trying to improve on my three-point shot, said Cadougan. "I'm working hard and getting my body cut, so when I come [to MU] I turn most of this body fat into muscle. It's coming along, but it's hard. I've been struggling my whole life."

Cadougan said he said he doesn't talk regularly with the current players but he does get a hold of fellow Texan Erik Williams.

"When I get to the hotel room I'm going to talk to Erik Williams for sure. That's my boy," Cadougan said. "We contact [each other] once in a while. He's doing his thing, I'm doing my thing. But when we get here we're going to be brothers, family."

Besides being a great basketball player, Cadougan is also trying his hand at recruiting. Marquette is one of several school persuing his teammate, Latavious Williams.

"Every day [I recruit Latavious]," Junior said emphatically. "The coaches [at Marquette] haven't told me to say anything, but I want Latavious at Marquette because of his athleticism, rebounding, and everything. We play well together. I'd love for Latavious to come to Marquette with me. He's like my best friend off the court. I'm trying to push Latavious to come here real bad."

Williams, was the leading scorer for Christian Life with 20 points despite missing the entire first quarter due to a late flight. He made an immediate impact when he entered the game, with his first basket coming on an ally-oop dunk.

Williams will be picking a college in the spring but hasn't narrowed a timetable as of yet. Marquette is on his list of schools, so the possibility remains that he may suit up with Cadougan again in his near future.

"Yeah Marquette, they've been talking to me a lot, and I'm thinking about [playing with Cadougan there], said Williams. "I'm going to wait and see what happens."
