Herd Insider Receives USPS Second Class Postage

Herd Insider has been approved for USPS Second Class Periodicals postage classification. What this means for subscribers (and Big Green members who receive the magazine as a membership benefit) is that delivery of HI should speed up dramatically in the immediate future.

"We've been working on this for almost 8 months," Herd Insider publisher Greg Perry said. "Getting HI into the hands of Marshall fans as quickly as possible is one of our top priorities, so this announcement by the USPS is great news for us."

Since its inception in 1998, Herd Insider has relied on a USPS Bulk Rate permit for its mailing. With the addition of over 3,000 Big Green Scholarship Foundation members this past year to the mailing list, the mailing process was slowed dramatically. In November of 2002, Herd Insider applied for the Second Class Periodicals classification, which is only granted to certified publications that meet the stringent requirements of the US Postal Service.

Herd Insider will now adhere to guidelines of the USPS, and will be audited on occasion to verify all subscriber information as well as number of copies printed, etc.

The application process involved almost 8 months of work, but the end result benefits Herd Insider subscribers greatly, beginning with HI's next print issue on June 25, 2003.

"Our subscribers all over the country should see HI land in their mailboxes a few days -even weeks in some cases- earlier than usual," Perry added. "And that's what makes a publication that is weekly for most of the year succeed. Speed."
