Defensive Lineman Grabbing Attention

Twenty Seven official offers. When a high school athlete has that many official offers before his senior year gets started, it makes people take note. That is especially true when it is a non skill position player. In this case it is for a 6'5" 270 pound defensive end/defensive tackle.

Marshall's coaching staff is currently looking at Bobby Leath. Leath is the aforementioned defensive stopper. He hails from Lake Wales High School in Lake Wales, Florida.

Marshall currently is very strong up the middle on the defensive side of the ball, however, the bulk of the depth is in the junior class, with very little depth coming from under classmen. The Herd just had one defensive tackle, Delvin Johnson, sign a free agent deal with the Washington Redskins.

As was previously mentioned, Leath has 27 official offers. A few of those offers are Marshall, Missouri, Tennessee, Kansas State, USF, UMASS and Iowa State. Marshall's offer came to Leath over his spring break.

Currently Leath is not that familiar with the Herd. He did say what he did know was, "that you all had a movie, and Marshall's biggest rival is West Virginia." He added that he would possibly consider taking an official trip to Marshall at some point in time, and that he would definitely give Marshall some consideration when determining where he would continue his football career.

Leath knows where he wants to be in his career, he wants to play at the next level. He has one person that he has looked up to as a leader for quite some time. Melvin Pearsall, a former player at Florida State, and currently a nose guard for the New England Patriots is Leath's brother. His goals are simple, "be a leader, have fun, and going on to the next level." He also wants to win their district and try to win state.

Leath was excited when he got his first offer, but he knew he owed it all to a few people. "I was smiling, but I owe it to God and to my parents."

Leath expects to play defensive end in college.
