Holmes Turning Heads

The Wide Receiver position continues to be one that the Marshall coaching staff is taking a long look at this recruiting season. The Herd will run onto the field this September with three starting senior wide receivers so replenishing their depth chart will be a high priority.

Wide Receiver Coach Gerard Parker has been looking all over the east coast. His most recent find is a big time wide receiver with big play making abilities from Virginia.

Chris Holmes will be a senior this season at Chancellor High School in Fredericksburg, VA. Holmes is currently the 78th ranked safety in the country, and a three star prospect according to Scout.com. However, the Herd is looking at him to replace one of the aforementioned departing senior starters at wide receiver.

Holmes is currently holding an offer from the Herd. Holmes also has taken an unofficial visit to the Huntington, WV campus and came away like what he had to see. He said the visit, "went really good," and "I really like the coaches and just about everything about the school."

Holmes is a big receiver, standing at 6'2", and weighing 180 pounds. He has excellent speed and hands. Holmes was recently timed in the 40 at 4.48 seconds.

Holmes intends on taking an official visit to Marshall at some point in the future. However, currently he does not have any favorites. He also holds offers from Clemson, South Carolina, East Carolina and West Virginia.
