JUCO Safety Sets Visit

Marshall is set to host somewhere between four and six prospective student athletes this coming weekend at Joan C. Edwards Stadium as the Herd ends their home slate with a noon kickoff against the Houston Cougars.

It will be senior day for the Herd as Marshall sets to see off Eight scholarship athletes. Among those departing seniors will be fellow starting safeties Dominick LeGrande and Okechukwu Okoroha.

Not suprising, one of the official visitors is a safety.

Junior College Prospect Darius Kelly from Pima Community College will make an official visit to the Huntington, WV campus this weekend. Head Coach Doc Holliday will need to replace both starting safeties going into next season. Currently only two safeties are on the roster and on scholarship, one is former corner back Corie Wilson and the other is redshirted safety Andre Scott.

Kelly is from Buena High School in Arizona. He is in his second season at Pima Community College where he has been a solid producer from the Aztecs.

Kelly is 5'11" tall and weighs in at 190 pounds. The currently unranked safety leads his team in tackles and other categories. Currently, through six games, Kelly has accumulated 70 tackles, 50 of which were solo tackles. Kelly also has one sack, one interception and a team leading three fumble recoveries.

Kelly has a knack for the ball and has the ability to make the big play when needed. He also has returned a punt for a touchdown in his Pima career. Stay tuned to Herdhaven.com for further updates.
