Catching Up With Visitors

The Marshall football program welcomed two official visitors to the Huntington, WV campus this past weekend. How did those visits turn out? Did anyone receive an offer who didn't already have one? I caught up with each of the visitors yesterday, here is a brief look at what they had to say.

Aaron Plantt, is a 6'1", 200 pound linebacker from Hallandale, High School in Hallandale, Florida. Plantt is currently an unrated linebacker but his stock is rising. Earlier this season, Plantt gave his commitment to Utah State University, but has since decided to take a few official visits to see how things look.

Plantt would figure to be placed as an outside linebacker in the Herd's current scheme. Marshall is losing outside linebacker Devin Arrington to graduation, and returning linebacker, and teams third leading tackler, D.J. Hunter could see a move back to him former position of safety.

Plantt said he would expect to use his speed and athleticism to play in space and defend against running backs, slot receivers and tight ends in open space. He is very positive on Marshall and hopes that one day he could, "contribute my talents to the program."

Plantt's lead recruiter is Jajuan Seider. He currently does not have an offer, but upon his departure from campus he was told that they would need to talk a little more and see how things play out. Plantt was shown around campus by middle linebacker Cortez Carter. They visited the Marshall basketball game at the Cam Henderson Center on Saturday night against UNC Wilmington.

The second visitor to campus was Gerald Wright. Wright committed to the Herd earlier in the season. Wright is a 6'4", 295 pound offensive guard from Miami Northwestern High School in Miami, Florida. Wright is a three star prospect and is rated as the number 83 offensive guard in the country.

Wright enjoyed his visit and remains fully committed to Doc Holliday and his staff.

Wright also attended the Men's basketball game on Saturday night and was shown around campus by fellow Miami area alums, Tommy Shuler and Rakeem Cato.

Stay tuned to for further updates as well as information on two recent commits.
