Herd Radar January 18th

Then there were three. Just three recruiting weekends left before national signing day arrives on February 6th. Doc Holliday and his staff have been working hard securing official visits from a plethora of prospects. This weekend, the Herd will host at least two offensive lineman and three speed guys. Let's go ahead and take a quick look at each of them.

Chris Huhn
Offensive Lineman
Pickerington North High School
Pickerington, Ohio
6'5" 290

Huhn is a large, athletic offensive lineman from Ohio. Huhn has held a Marshall offer for sometime now and will be making his visit this weekend. Herdhaven.com caught up with Huhn over the summer and he was fairly certain he would take each visit prior to making a decision. At that time, he had made unofficial visits to Toledo and Ohio just to name two. Huhn has offers from Louisville, Ohio, Western Kentucky as well as Marshall.

Huhn is a three star player and led his team to a 12 – 2 record before losing deep into the playoffs against Archbishop Moeller.

Michael Selby
Offensive Lineman
Washington County High School
Sandersville, Georgia
6'3", 280

Selby committed to Marshall over the summer. Selby is a highly regarded three star offensive lineman from Georgia. Herdhaven.com spoke with Selby over the summer and he was a solid Marshall commit at that time, and so far, nothing has changed. Selby made an unofficial visit to Marshall during the season. Selby also has offers from Colorado State, Middle Tennessee State, and Mississippi State.

Selby led his team to a 11 – 2 record.

Justin Hunt
Wide Receiver
Memphis, Tennessee
6'2", 180 pounds


Hunt is a tall, physical, fast wide receiver who is not afraid to go over the middle, and has the ability to make big plays with his speed and his leaping ability. Hunt runs a 4.58, forty yard dash. He is a large target who is rated two stars currently. Hunt is a track guy who is gaining a lot of late season attention from multiple schools. Hunt has offers from Arkansas State, Memphis, Western Kentucky and Southern Mississippi. He also holds a Marshall offer.

Hunt led his High School team to a 15 – 0 record and a state championship.

Da'Wan Hunte
Defensive Back
Miami Central High School
Miami, Florida
5'10", 170 pounds

Hunte hails from Miami Central High School. That school should sound familiar to most Herd fans, as it is the exact school that produced current Marshall stars, Rakeem Cato and Tommy Shuler. Hunte holds an offer from Marshall and will visit this weekend.

Hunte led his high school team to a 12 – 2 record and a state championship.

Chocolate Wilson
Defensive Back
Myrtle Beach High School
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
5'10", 170 pounds

Wilson is a highly touted, three star defensive back who Marshall is high on. The Herd has extended an offer from Wilson and was able to secure an official visit this weekend. This will not be Wilson's only official visit. Wilson will visit Purdue next weekend, and round out his visits with a trip to Ole Miss on February 1st. The Marshall staff will have its work cut out for them. Marshall does have some history in the Myrtle Beach area, with the most prominent alumnus being Franklin "Butchie" Wallace. Wilson's strengths is his speed, he is a track guy and considers his play, strong and fast.

A quick glance to these profiles show not only speed from the skill guys, and size from the lineman but more importantly, it look at the records each players high schools accumulated on the field this season. The teams combined to go 60 and 8 with two national championships.
