Marshall Travels to South Florida Twice

Conference USA released the teams that each conference member will be playing during the upcoming 2013 college football season. The schedule should play out nicely for the Herd both for fans buying season tickets, as well as for those fans that like to travel.

Diving right into it, Marshall will head on the road to play Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Middle Tennessee State and Tulsa.

Tulsa is the only 2012 CUSA team that Marshall will play on the road, and this will mark the Herd's second trip to Tulsa in the last three years.

Seeing as how Marshall will visit Miami, Florida twice this season to play FAU and FIU, one should assume that at some point Marshall will play on the road at one of these schools on successive seasons in order to balance it out. Currently Marshall is the only school that plays both FAU and FIU on the road this season.

The home slate shapes out nicely for Marshall fans. In addition to an old school out of conference matchup with Miami of Ohio, Marshall will play three 2012 CUSA teams, and one new CUSA team at home. Marshall will host rivals ECU and Southern Miss, as well as a revenge game against UAB. UAB kept the Herd out of a bowl game with their upset win at Legion Field this past season.

Marshall will also host CUSA newcomer utsa.

Good news for Marshall is that it will not have to play in the state of Texas this season, a state in which the Herd has only won once. It had been rumored in recent days that Marshall would visit both North Texas and UTEP.

Marshall will also host out of conference foe Gardner Webb, as well as going on the road to Virginia Tech and Ohio University.

Dates, and game times will be set at a later time.

Other schedules of note.

East Carolina, who likely will be battling the Herd for CUSA East supremacy this year hosts FAU, Southern Miss, Tulsa and UAB, while travelling to FIU, Marshall, Middle Tennessee State and Tulane.

Southern Miss, will host both FAU and FIU, along with Middle Tennessee State and North Texas. They will travel to ECU, LA Tech, Marshall and UAB. Their road schedule appears to be one of the toughest in CUSA, in regards to conference games.

Middle Tennessee State will host ECU, FIU, Marshall and UTEP, and travel to FAU, North Texas, USM and UAB.

UAB who could be a team to watch this year will host FAU, Middle Tennessee State, Rice and Southern Miss, and travel to ECU, FIU, Marshall and UTSA.

Those of you who are fans of recruiting have to love the fact that Doc Holliday will get to visit South Florida twice in the same season.
