Marshall Unveils New Logo

Huntington, WV -- In front of a packed house at the Joan C. Edwards Performing Arts Center on the Marshall campus, the new Marshall logo was unveiled today. The new identity for the university --academics and athletics -- features a modern, updated version of the classic block 'M', with a more aggressive Marco buffalo.

The new logo was met with roaring applause from the 1,000 in attendance, including West Virginia Governor Bob Wise. "I haven't seen it. Nobody has seen it. It's a greater secret than the Stealth Bomber. I want to see the logo," Wise commented before the unveiling.

The Governor got his wish. Wise also received the first piece of merchandise with the new logo on it, a green casual jacket, courtesy of Marshall president Dan Angel.

The logo was designed by '86 Marshall alumnus Phil Evans, of Huntersville, NC.
