Wright Ready to Play

Doc Holliday secured a solid recruiting class for the Marshall Thundering Herd this past offseason. The class was rated second in CUSA, behind the soon to be leaving East Carolina. Marshall secured multiple skill position and high profile type of players. They also put together an impressive group of offensive lineman.

Chris Huhn, Michael Selby, Cody Collins, Sandley Jean Felix and Gerald Wright were all highly rated offensive lineman who decided to make Huntington, WV their homes for the next four to five seasons.

I recently caught up with Gerald Wright.

Wright has been an excellent interview since his commitment to the Herd last summer, well before even making a visit to the campus. He loved what Marshall had to offer, and loved the family atmosphere. He never waffled from his commitment at all. In fact, during our interview, without being asked, Wright said, "If I could pick a hat all over again, it would still be the Herd."

Wright said, "I cannot wait to be a part of something special up there."

Wright works out everyday at 4pm to, "become bigger and better." He is not sure when exactly he will be reporting to campus, but is just waiting for that info.

I asked him if he keeps in touch with any other recruits that will be reporting with him, and he said yes. He talks to a couple, one of them being the highly regarded former Florida State commit, defensive back Michael Johnson.

Johnson was a last minute flip for Marshall which helped to solidify an already solid recruiting class.

Wright, a 6'3', 295 pound three star offensive lineman says that as of now he expects to come in and play on the offensive side of the football. He was the 72nd ranked guard in the country.

He ended with, "I cannot wait to come up there and play for Coach Holliday."

Another sign, that Doc Holliday should have no problems continuing to recruit the South Florida area even with the recent loss of running backs coach JaJuan Seider.
