Marshalls' Womens Softball team came within one run last season of making the NCAA tournament for the first time in school history. This season, they battled their way back into the title came with two one run victories in the first two rounds. Today, they would battle Houston, today they would beat Houston, and today they would make the NCAA tournament for the first time.

Pitcher Andi Williamson threw seven nearly flawless innings and picked up the victory.

Marshall took the lead early when a double by Shaelynn Braxton was mishandled by the Cougars causing two runs to score. The Herd never relinquished the lead as they beat the number two seeded Houston Cougars 3 - 1.

Houston, most likely will also make the NCAA tournament. CUSA should put four teams in the tournament with Tulsa and UAB joining Houston and Marshall.
