Quarterback Recruiting Heats Up

With the departure of last years' QB signees Kenny Irby and Chuck Spearman, look for the Herd to sign one possibly two QBs this coming year. Marshall has offered a scholarship to Jimmy Skinner, 6-5, 190, from Chillicothe, OH.

Skinner, who attended MU's summer camp, has an offer from Indiana already on the table. Skinner has an accurate arm, completing 60% of his passes for 30 TDs the last two years. He is interested in Michigan and Purdue, but neither school has offered as of August 8. Purdue already has a commitment from one highly rated QB...

Another QB who Marshall coaches have offered a scholarship to is Luke Getsy, a 6-3, 200 pounder from Steel Valley, PA. Getsy, who recently visited Marshall, told Herd Insider that Marshall is at the top of his list. Getsy is also looking at Boston College, Michigan State, and UConn. Last season, Getsy completed 80 of 169 passes for 1,149 yards...

Bryan Cupito, 6'3, 185, from McNichols HS in Cincinnati, OH: Marshall has offered the drop-back passer and Cupito is receiving interest from Notre Dame, Indiana, Boston College, and Miami, OH...

Jhad Dial is a big 6'4, 200 pound QB from Walton HS in Marietta, GA. Dial's stock has risen due to his performances at several camps this summer. Dial posses a strong arm and good mobility. Right now teams pursuing Dial are Marshall, Auburn, Clemson, Louisville, and Central Florida. Dial has already qualified and has a 3.6 GPA.

The final quarterback on the Herds' list is Justin Rascati, 6-3, 205, from Bucholz HS in Gainesville, FL. (Yes, THAT Gainesville). As a junior he threw for 1,419 yards and 13 TDs. He is getting interest from Marshall, Duke, Louisville, Memphis, UNC, NC State.
