Numbers and Notes

Marshall entered last week needing a win over East Carolina to secure the CUSA East spot in the CUSA championship game. The Herd got off to an incredible start, leading 24 – 0, and finally put away the Pirates for a 59 to 28 win. The Herd then sat and waited, and to many fans dismay, found out they would travel to Rice for the Title Game.

Marshall last played Rice in 2012 winning in a double overtime thriller 54 to 51 on a game winning touchdown run by Kevin Grooms, more on Grooms later.

This year's game is for much larger stakes. A win for either team should place the school in the Liberty Bowl in Memphis on New Year's Eve.
