Catching Up With Garvin

Last week, the hot topic was the mid year recruits showing up on campus from Junior Colleges and Prep Schools from around the country. Marshall will have at least four mid year prep school players on campus, and possibly as many as six over the next week to ten days.

In the upcoming draft, one of the number one options to be the first overall pick into the NFL is Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. Bridgewater enrolled at Louisville a semester early and got his career started with a spring practice.

This Thursday, as long as everything goes as planned, Cole Garvin will arrive at Marshall to begin his college football career. I caught up with Garvin last week to discuss his arrival at Marshall.

Garvin was offered by Arkansas State, FIU, Louisiana Tech, Georgia State, Memphis, MTSU, Southern Mississippi, UAB and Western Kentucky. Garvin is a two star recruit with tremendous upside, before committing to the Herd last summer. Garvin had a very successful senior year which resulted in him throwing for 2,100 yards, 21 touchdowns and only 4 interceptions.

Garvin attended Sandy Creek High School in Tyrene, Georgia.

Garvin was asked if he watched The Herd in the Military Bowl and what he thought. "Yes, I watched it. They looked excellent and when they play that well they can compete with anyone."

Garvin is excited to start on his college football career. "Hopefully I can come in and just continue what is going on and keep the vehicle going. I can make all the throws and hopefully bring in a mental aspect equivalent to Cato's (Marshall quarterback Rakeem Cato.)

Garvin hopes to wear number 13 upon his arrival at Marshall.
