Running Back Visits

Doc Holliday is always recruiting. Holliday arrived at Marshall and said that he was only looking for players who would help Marshall win Championships. The Herd finally broke through last year with a CUSA East Championship. Marshall lost senior running back Essray Taliaferro, and will return three juniors this season at the position, so the need for quality running backs is a priority.

Enter Ohio star Breck Turner. Turner is currently an unrated running back from Norwalk, Ohio via Norwalk High School. Turner has already visited Indiana and has additional offers from Kent State and Toledo. Is Turner interested in the Thundering Herd, is Marshall interested in Turner.

That speculation came to an end this past weekend as Turner took an unofficial offer to the Huntington, WV campus. He now has an offer from the Thundering Herd, so interest appears to be mutual.

Turner is a 6'0", 195 pound running back with size and speed.

Turner's lead recruiters with the Herd are Todd Hartley and Bill Legg. Hartley, the Herd's recruiting coordinator has been one of the top non BCS recruiters the past two years, leading the Herd deep into the state of Georgia to grab many top of the line recruits.

The fact that the Herd is interested in Turner should come as no surprise. Turner has put up excellent numbers in his high school career.

Turner has a long way to go in his recruitment. At this time, his offers consist of Marshall, Toledo and Kent, with interest from Indiana and potentially Pittsburgh in the works.

Turner put up big numbers in his junior year which landed him on 1st team All Ohio. His 4.5 40 yard time, and his 30 inch vertical leap assisted in putting up those numbers. He ended the season with 1,910 yards rushing for 33 touchdowns. He added another 202 yards receiving and four additional touchdowns.
