Herd Offers Hialeah WR

Marshall University has been one of the top passing schools in the country the past two seasons. It should come as no surprise head coach Doc Holliday is constantly on the lookout for play making wide receivers to work into his program. It should also come as very little surprise when there is interest being reciprocated back to the program from some of the highest rated wide outs in the nation.

That is the case with standout wide receiver Steven Claude. Claude is a 6'2", 185 point wide receiver with great hands and excellent speed. He recently was clocked right at a 4.5 in the forty. Claude is a three star wide receiver from Champagnat High School in Hialeah, Florida. Hialeah is where current Marshall wide receiver Craig Wilkins is from.

Claude currently has twenty offers. The schools who have offered range from the Mid American conference to the biggest of the BCS conferences. I asked Claude how this amount of interest makes him feel in regards to all the work he has put in over the years. Claude said, "I am very happy, but you know you can only go to one school. I feel my hard work has definitely paid off. I go to the weight room daily and have been running the hill two to three times a week."

Claude seems to know what he wants in a school, now he is at that point when he is set to make some of his summer visits and determine what those plans are. He said, "I want a school with a great medical program. I also want to play for great coaches which treat me like a son. I want a smaller environment like my school Champagnat, and I also want to feel at home."

Marshall has offered Claude, in fact, the Herd was one of the first schools to extend him an offer. His lead recruiter at Marshall is offensive line coach Alex Mirabal. Mirabal has been instrumental in bringing in big name talent from the South Florida since his arrival prior to last season.

When asked what the chances are that he could end up at Marshall, Claude said, "Marshall would definitely be a school that I would consider. Right now every school is even until after my summer visits are over." He said, "I feel I could go to Marshall and be a great one like Randy Moss or Aaron Dobson."

He also said, "I know that Marshall throws the ball a lot, and as a receiver, that makes me feel good because I love making plays. I also need to block though, which is very important."

Marshall will lose at least two outside receivers due to graduation after the 2014 campaign. As of now, Demetrius Evans and Craig Wilkins will exhaust their eligibility. Davonte Allen will be a junior this year, leaving only Angelo Jean Louis as an underclassmen at the outside receiver position.
