The strength and conditioning coaches are busy keeping the players in shape, as the remaining coaches are hitting the roads searching out for the next players to join their programs. One of the many things that they are doing is setting up visits for the potential prospects to visit their campuses.
Marshall coach Doc Holliday and his staff have two visitors heading to Huntington as we speak.
One of those visitors is Brunswick, Georgia product Carlos Pickett.
Pickett is a 5'11", 185 pound defensive back who is currently unrated and unranked with scout.com. Pickett visited campus yesterday, and said, "I do not know very much about Marshall right now. I cannot wait to get to campus and take in as much as I can in a short period of time." Although Pickett is not saying that he has a top three at this moment, he did say that, "Marshall is very high on my list right now."
Pickett currently has multiple FBS offers. In addition to the Marshall offer, which according to Pickett was his first offer from any school, he also has offers from Kent, Troy, South Alabama, and Western Kentucky.
Pickett's lead recruiter is recruiting coordinator Todd Hartley. Hartley is known for the work he does in the state of Georgia. I asked Pickett if he knew any of the current Marshall players. He said he did not, but added, "I don't know any players personally I see they have a few South Georgia Boys on the roster anybody this area I would consider family."
Pickett is a quick defensive back who wants to play safety at the next level but most likely will start out at corner.
Pickett added, "I am looking for a place where I can come in and win championships and get a good education."
