Grimes Set to Visit Marshall

Marshall is set to take on the Rhode Island Rams this weekend in the home opener. Kick off is slated for 7pm at Joan C. Edwards Stadium. While the Herd takes on the Rams, the staff will also be visited by four highly touted prospects.

One of those prospects is Doyle Grimes

Grimes is a three star outside linebacker from South Dade High School in Florida. Grimes is the 123rd ranked player at his position and has garnered many big offers leading into his high school season. At this time, Grimes is not prepared to say who his top three are, or if he has any favorites.

Grimes’ lead recruiter is offensive line coach, and South Florida recruiting area, Alex Mirabal. Grimes currently has offers from Syracuse, Appalachian State, Cincinnati, Marshall, Florida Atlantic, and West Virginia.

Marshall will be losing four linebackers on the depth chart this year to graduation. Those guys are Jermaine Holmes, Neville Hewitt, Raheem Waiters, and Cortez Carter. Junior Evan McKevley has one year remaining after this season, so re stocking the linebacker position has to be one of the top priorities for the Herd coaching staff.

Grimes is a tall, fast, athletic linebacker capable of making plays in the open field. Grimes is 6’2”, and weighs a little over 200 pounds.

Grimes will be visiting Marshall this Friday. He will be arriving to Marshall after his High School plays their game against Carol City, “up at Traz Powell Stadium.” He said so far heir season is going great and he looks forward to seeing how the season plays out.

He is very excited to get the recruiting process rolling.

In addition to Grimes’ visit, Marshall will also receive official visits from Stephon Brown of Kississmee, Florida, and Lennoris Gaines from Clewiston High School. Markeyvious Adams may also be visiting as well.

Stay tuned to for further updates on visitors and current commitments.
