Johnson Visits Marshall

Two weeks ago, Marshall hosted the Ohio Bobcats at Joan C. Edwards Stadium. In addition to hosting the contest, Marshall also hosted an official visit from a big offensive lineman from Florida. This lineman visited, and spent the weekend with two other current Marshall commits who were on campus for unofficial visits.

Fredrick Johnson from Royal Palm Beach, Florida made his first official visit. Johnson is relatively new to the game of football but is built like a division I offensive tackle. Standing 6’7” tall, and weighing in a 307 pounds, Johnson definitely has the body size to play at the next level. Head Coach Doc Holliday likes to have mean, tough offensive lineman dotting his roster, does Johnson fit that bill? Time will tell.

Johnson does currently hold an offer from Marshall. His lead recruiter is offensive line coach Alex Mirabal.

Johnson enters his senior season as a first year starter. He has grown late and is blasting onto the scene. I asked him how his visit went, and he said, “It went great, I got to experience what the teams does before and after the games, such as the team dinner. I also got a full campus tour. I talked to all of the coaches, and really enjoyed going to the game. After that, I enjoyed a tour around town.”

In addition to enjoying his visit he really liked what he saw in the community and the fans.” I like the town and the atmosphere. I really enjoyed the fact that football was so important to the community.”

“I met two of the other offensive line commitments,” Johnson said. He was referring to offensive lineman Logan Grieser and Alex Locklear.

“I do not currently have any other offers, and I don’t really have a list of favorites. I hope to make my decision on what school I will attend by the end of my high school season.”

Stay tuned to as we follow the recruitment of Johnson and others.
