Marshall Football continued to prepare for the August 30 opener with the Pride of Hofstra University with two-a-days on Wednesday. A long three-hour morning practice was followed by an one and one-half hour workout on the grass fields adjacent to the stadium.

The following players returned to practice on Wednesday: receiver Darius Watts (no contact still), rover Gladstone Coke (bursar behind knee, no contact), Toby Bullock (bronchitus), cornerback Roberto Terrell (hamstring), receiver Wilbur Hargrove (slight ankle sprain), receiver Josh Davis (still no contact), Butchie Wallace (slight concussion), Nate Manns (hamstring). Earl Charles was held out and Paul Sinclair was excused from practice, having a virus and a paper to finish for summer session. Charles Stanfield has tendonitis in his Achillies Tendon, but practiced. Cornerback Jamall Saunders suffered a pulled groin. Tank Tunstalle was held out of practice with a sore shoulder. landing on his shoulder after a terrific hit by Jonathan Goddard in the morning session.

Dennis Thorton injured his left ankle (although x-rays were reported negative) and he and Joe Diefel (ankle) will be on crutches for a week or so. Lineman Dwayne Robinson first MRI on his knee is not promising, but he will be re-examined later this week. It is the second major injury of his career. It is hoped that defensive back Reamnaldo Williams will return as early as Thursday. Toriano Brown was day-to-day with his sore toe.

Marshall coach Bob Pruett fell to the ground, in mock pain, and recreated Wilbur Hargroves injury from Tuesday. "Let's just say that Wilbur doesn't handle pain too well," said Pruett as Hargrove jogged by Pruett's reinactment. Players leaving the team Wednesday were Damion Williams (junior cornerback) and Sloan Baisden (true freshman defensive back).
