Here is a look at each team's starters.

Both schools often recruit similar players.  Last year, Southern Miss received a commitment from a young wide receiver.  The player visited Marshall right before signing day and ended up flipping to the Herd.  His name is Brandon Rodgers and gained eligibility and is seeing some playing time as a true freshman.  Coach Doc Holliday said last night on his call in show that Rodgers is earning his stripes on special teams and is moving up the rotation and could start to see more action.

Southern Miss has reeled in a couple players that Marshall was in on early.  Most notably is former Florida State wide receiver Isaiah Jones.  Jones was close to being ineligible out of high school and Marshall thought at one point they would receiver his letter of intent.  He got eligible late, went to Florida State, then left to go JUCO, and signed and is starring for Southern Miss.
