Okay, so our 1pm update turned into a mid-afternoon one...Marshall has received letters of intent from the following:
Graham Gochneaur, Marcus, TX - 6-4, 205; JUCO who led his Kilgore CC team to an undefeated season. Played in only ten games this year and threw for 1,514 yards on 111-225 passing with 11 TD's, finishing 15th in passing in all junior colleges. Led team to an 12-0 record and second place national finish in final junior college poll Gochneaur graduated in December and should be able to participate in spring drills. Received interest from Arizona and Mississippi State.
Seth Cook, Gilbert WV - 6-5, 279, 4.9 forty. The best offensive lineman in WV this past year, Cook shows good speed and power for his size. Committed early to Marshall over WVU. Will most likely be red-shirted to add size. "He's a very intelligent young man, so we expect him to learn quickly," said Legg of Cook. "The things we like about him are his athleticism and intelligence."
Ivan Clark, Amelia, VA - 5-10, 160 4.37 forty. A real speed burner who was the James River (VA) District defensive player of the year. Also was a second team all-district performer at quarterback. Needs to add bulk and most likely will be red-shirted next year. Chose Marshall over an offer from WVU and interest from Georgia. "We really went out and looked for some guys who were point guard-type athletes, using a basketball paraphrase," said Legg. "[Clark is] a very skilled athlete."
Charles Hall, CB-Athlete, Ed White HS, Jacksonville, FL: Marshall defensive backs coach Lou Anarumo had this to say about Hall: "Same kind of athlete as the other two (Clark and Royal)," said Legg. "He's an athlete," commented Marshall defensive backs coach Lou Anarumo this afternoon, after Hall's letter of intent had been received. "He can do it all. He's that type of guy."
