"We value everything our donors have done," said David Cantor, Executive Director of the Marshall University Big Green Scholarship Foundation, "and we would like to give them an opportunity to sit down and get questions answered, to discuss improvements in the future of our programs and let us know what we are doing that they like."
The meeting will give Marshall supporters a chance to discuss the state of Marshall Athletics at length. The event will start at 5:00 p.m. with remarks from MU head football coach Mark Snyder, followed by a question and answer session with Marshall Director of Athletics Bob Marcum. There will be snacks and refreshments available to those who attend this free meeting.
At the Town Hall meeting, Marshall supporters can ask questions, share concerns, voice opinions, discuss future plans or current events regarding the Thundering Herd sports programs. It is believed to be the first-ever event of this type for Marshall. Topics might include ideas on how to fund sports at Marshall, the quality of MU sports team or any questions the fans have.
"We wanted to give our supporters an opportunity to attend a meeting and discuss concerns or share opinions on many facets of Marshall Athletics, from fund-raising to tickets to new facilities," said Big Green Board of Trustees President Tom Miller. "It will be an open forum, open to our supporters and media who cover the Thundering Herd athletic program, to help lay a foundation for the future growth of the Marshall University Thundering Herd program."
Marshall's Big Green Scholarship Foundation currently raises nearly $2 million per year to fund scholarships for Marshall student-athletes, about one-half of the amount spent by the athletic department on athletic scholarships.
