Two high profile players that Marshall had offered scholarships to have verbally committed elsewhere. In the last issue of Herd Insider we wrote about St. Thomas Aquinas, FL, RB David Marrero. Marrero verballed to Notre Dame. The 5'10", 190 pound running back posted the fastest 40 time at the Miami Nike combine in June. Marrero had offers from Marshall, FSU, UF, Stanford, Michigan, Purdue and Northwestern.

Tanard Jackson, 6'0" 185, from Bullis HS in Maryland committed to Syracuse. Marshall, Pitt, Kent and NC State were recruiting the defensive back. Look for the Herd to sign several DB prospects in the upcoming year.

Also in the last Herd Insider's Hard Drive, we wrote about a sleeper tight end from Virginia in Justin Bell. Well the 6'3, 240 pound Bell is no longer a sleeper. He has offers from Marshall, Virginia Tech, Pitt and Northwestern. The Mt Vernon HS tight end is being pushed hard to commit to VA Tech, as Tech is desperate to sign several TEs.

As recruiting starts back up in September, with coaches allowed to make contact, Herd Insider will give you updates on the Marshall recruiting efforts. We will begin speaking with high school coaches from Marshall recruiting territories soon, so say tuned to GoHerd.com!
