Big MD Lineman Commits to Marshall

Marshall football has received their second commitment of the young 2002 season, this one in the form of a 6'5", 295 pound lineman from Maryland. In an exclusive interview with Herd Insider, his coach gives Marshall's newest line recruit high praise...

Herd Insider has learned that the Marshall football team received its second verbal commitment last week. Once again, the Herd coaching staff went into the state of Maryland to get a highly regarded prospect.
McDonough High School's Dave Ziegler, a 6'5", 295 pound defensive/offensive lineman gave the Herd a verbal commitment last week. McDonough High head coach Dave Bradshaw told Herd Insider that Marshall is, "Getting a good one."

According to Coach Bradshaw, Ziegler has started since his sophomore year for McDonough. Ziegler was All-Conference last year as a junior.
"Dave benches well over 300 pounds and can squat over 500 pounds, plus he has good movement for a player his size," Bradshaw added. Ziegler was listed by the Washington Post as one of the top-ten defensive line prospects in the Metro -Washington/Maryland/Virginia area.

Ziegler made visits to UVA, Pitt and to Marshall and was preparing to visit Army before he committed to the Herd. McDonough High plays in Maryland's second largest football classification, 3A. Coach Bradshaw tells us he sees Dave being an offensive lineman, most likely a tackle, at Marshall.
