Speedy Ohio DB Makes Official Visit to Marshall

Speedy defensive back Kyle Echols made his official visit to Marshall to catch the MAC Championship game last weekend. Herd Insider caught up with Echols during the game, and he filled us in on why he visited...

Echols is a speedy 5'10", 175 pound defensive back who has the speed that Herd coaches put a priority on. In the Ohio state track meet he ran a 10.97 100 meter as a junior and finished second in Division 1 (largest classification in Ohio) in the 200 meters running a 21.88.

"I really like the coaches. I love the coaches," Echols told Herd Insider during a break in the MAC Championship game.

Echols is taking a look at East Carolina, Indiana, Clemson and Purdue as well as Marshall. "This is my first one [visit]. On January 11, I'm going to East Carolina."

"As of right now, I've got Marshall first on my list, seriously," Echols said. "The people around here are great. I talked to some teachers today, and they seem great."

Kyle was honorable mention Division 1 in 2002. Echols is also a weightlifting competitor having set a state record for his weight class in the dead-lift (490 pounds) and set state meet records with his squat 440 pounds and total lift of 1,190 pounds.
