2012 Recruit Darren Hicks

TSR talks to 2012 offense line prospect Darren Hicks.

Heading toward the end of his junior year, Darren Hicks’ stock is continuously rising; as he skillfully controls the line of scrimmage on weekly basis. Playing offensive line for Winslow Township High School in New Jersey, Hicks has drawn interest from a number of impressive programs, including University of Maryland, Purdue, Rutgers, Pittsburg, Florida, and West Virginia. However, Hicks has yet to receive an offer from any of these schools as he heads towards his senior season.

Hicks hopes to receive offers from these programs in the near future but isn’t worried about his current situation. The recruit described himself as a worker, “I try to be as intelligent as possible on the field. I’m one of the hardest workers you will find, and I try to use that to my advantage,” said Hicks. Hicks is attempting to get his work ethic noticed by more coaches as he continues to improve as a player.

Although Hicks has yet to receive the offers, he is certain as to what he wants in a school. Hicks cited location as a key factor in his eventual decision, saying that he hopes to go to a school that is close to home. Another important component that the recruit would like to have in a University is a family-like atmosphere.

Up to this point, Hicks has yet to speak to any Terp coaches, but is definitely impressed by the program already, “I know that Maryland is a great school with a great campus,” Hicks explained. The recruit hopes to visit all of the schools he is interested in somewhere in the future however is not sure exactly when the time will be. As for now, Hicks will be continuing to display his talents, with the hopes of drawing some offers for his future.
