Hughes Closer to His Decision

2011 prospect Travis Hughes is down to three schools and six days before he makes his decision.

Just over a month and a half ago, highly touted recruit Travis Hughes of Kempsville High School narrowed his list of schools down to three choices: University of Maryland, North Carolina, and Virginia Tech. Today, the list remains the same, as Hughes continues to analyze his possibilities and break down each program.

Hughes is currently at a deadlock regarding his decision, “All the schools are closer then ever,” explained Hughes. “My decision is very up in the air right now.” Hughes has taken all his official visits, but recently has taken unofficial to the three schools on his list.

Hughes most recently visited University of Maryland, where he attended the Saturday night, prime-time game against ACC opponent Florida State University. Hughes described the visit as a lot of fun, citing the game as the most exciting part, “It was a great atmosphere,” said Hughes. “It was the biggest crowd I have ever seen here, the fans really stepped up.” Hughes also attended the season opener against Morgan State on his official visit a few months ago, but explained that the excitement of the Florida State game was unmatched, “I have never seen anything like that here at Maryland,” stated Hughes.

Hughes has been a frequent visitor to the University of Maryland for years, as his brother is currently enrolled as a student at the University. The middle linebacker has been thoroughly impressed with the Terps coaching staff up to this point, saying, “It’s truly a family there. Everyone really comes together as one.”

Hughes plans on making his commitment on December 18th. This decision will not be an easy one for Hughes, as he recognizes the challenge that he will be facing within the next few weeks, “I’m really going to have to sort things out,” said Hughes. “All the school present amazing opportunities for me. It definitely wont be an easy decision.”
