2012 Intro- Ian Park

TSR introduces you to 2012 prospect Ian Park. Park is an offensive guard for Upper St. Clair, PA

Do you have an offer from Maryland?

How was the 2010 season?

It went well, we went 8-3, lost in the 2nd round of the playoffs

How did you do personally?

I just took each game one step at a time, and I progressed more and more each game. I averaged a little more than 10 pancakes a game.

What kind of contact have you had with the Maryland coaching staff since the recruiting process started?

The coach who I have been in contact with has been Coach Gattuso, and when he left Pitt, I stayed in contact with him the whole way and then he offered me just about a week after he got there.

How often have the Maryland coaches had contact with your coaches at school?

My coach and Coach Gattuso speak regularly, like they did when he was at Pitt.

What is your overall interest in Maryland?

I am very interested in Maryland. Right now they are in my top three.

Who are the other two?

Pitt and Cincinnati

What is your interest in Maryland? What is it about the program that has you interested?

I'd say the fact that they are such a reputable program in the ACC. I think that Coach Edsall will bring a great winning attitude to the program. I'm interested to see how they do next season.

How would you describe yourself as a player?

The focal point of my game depends upon coming off the ball quickly with a low pad level, and being more physical than the guy across from me. I try to be as physical as possible when I play so I can wear the other guy out as soon as possible.

Do you prefer pass blocking or run blocking?

I love to do both. When I was a sophomore, we had a great passing QB, who happened to be my older brother, and we did way more pass blocking. When he graduated, my coach decided to go back to the run because we had more of a running QB. For my senior season, we will be running the ball a lot as well.

Is there anyone in college or pro that you would compare your game to?

I'd say Chris Kemoeatu for the Steelers

What are you looking for in a program?

A great winning tradition, great staff, and a strong academic background

Is distance a factor?

What do you plan on majoring in?

What other schools are you hearing from?

Michigan State, Michigan, NC State, UConn, Auburn, and Penn State

Do you plan on attending any junior days?

I have been to Michigan State, and I am going to Cincinnati, Michigan, and I will be down at Maryland for a spring practice and NC State for their game.

Do you have a time frame on when you plan to commit?

I'd say I'll make my decision after my official visits but not too close to signing day
