Williams Impressed With Terp Early

Calvert Hall prospect C.J. Williams is very impressed with the Terps and the new coaching staff.

Safety CJ Williams is a stud. Standing at 6 feet tall, and weighing 210-pounds, Williams has the perfect physical stature for the college level. For this reason, the junior from Calvert Hall College High School has drawn heavy interest from a number of schools including Maryland, West Virginia, Penn State, Missouri, Cal, Rutgers, Uconn, and Duke.

Although early in his recruitment, Williams has been thoroughly impressed with the University of Maryland, which has landed the Terps in his top three with West Virginia, and Penn State, “I really like the things they are doing at Maryland,” explained Williams. “They are definitely going in the right direction.”

Maryland has been very impressed with Williams' ability to make the players around him better, “I'm always the first one on the field and the last one off,” said Williams. “I always try to lead by example, and working hard is the best way for me to do that.” Williams believes the Terps can offer him what he wants in a school, “I want a great football school, deep tradition, and to be close to home,” said Williams.

Perhaps the biggest factor for the junior safety is how he will fit into the schools system, “I want to be able to play and flourish,” said Williams. “I'm the kind of safety that likes to get in at the line of scrimmage and make plays.” Using his 4.46-second, 40-yard dash speed, Williams possess a rare size-speed combination that he compared to that of NFL stars John Lynch and Brian Dawkins.

Up to this point, Williams has yet to taken an official visit to the Terps, but has visited the College Park campus in the past, “Overall it was a great visit. The fans were great, and the facilities were unreal. I can see myself fitting in well there,” Williams said. The safety plans on making another visit on April 16th, where he will meet the coaching staff, and get to know the school better.

Going forward, Williams is interested to see who, “Keeps in contact with me, and shows interest in me off the field,” Williams explained. “I have a lot of time to make a decision, but some programs are already leaving a positive stamp on my mind.
