Gallo Excited About Terps

TSR caught up with 2012 tight end prospect PJ Gallo to discuss recruiting.

Council Park High School South's twentieth ranked tight end PJ Gallo has been impressing scouts throughout his first three years of high school. His outstanding performance game in, and game out, has landed him offers from outstanding football programs including Maryland, Pittsburg, Syracuse, Temple, West Virginia, and Uconn.

Although Gallo is yet to rank any of his offers, the University of Maryland has caught his eye early, “Maryland has shown me a lot of interest thus far,” said Gallo. A major factor moving forward for Gallo, will be his relationship with the coaches, “I want to be at a school where I like the coaching staff,” explained Gallo. “The most important thing for me is education, and my ability to succeed wherever I land.”

So far during the recruitment process, Gallo has been thoroughly impressed with newly hired Head Coach Randy Edsall and his staff, “I love Coach Edsall,” said Gallo. “He did a great job at Uconn turning their program into a bowl contender, and has already started to do an awesome job at Maryland. He definitely has a bright future with the Terps and will end up doing a lot of big things.”

Gallo's recent visit to Maryland's College Park campus left a mark on the tight end as well, “The campus was really cool. It had great buildings, updated facilities, and is in a great location,” said Gallo.

Going into his senior season, coaches have been very impressed with the tight end's versatility, “I do my best to do it all on the field,” explained Gallo. “I can get on the wing and catch, block for running plays, and make things happen.” Although many coaches have been impressed with these things, Gallo believes it is his hustle that makes him stand out on the gridiron, “I have a motor that rivals most player,” said Gallo. “I give it my all every play and leave my heart on the field.

Gallo has no inclination as to when he will choose his school of choice, but plans on seeing what every school has to offer, “I have really enjoyed getting to know all the schools and coaches. I am excited to continue with this process and see where it takes me.”
