Joe Riddle wasted little time making an impact in his senior year for Linganore. The 6-1, 195-pound Maryland commit rushed for 265 yards and two scores in a 28-6 win over South Carroll. He followed that up with 84 yards rushing in a 49-0 win over Bethesda Chevy Chase on Friday.
In between, Riddle was at Maryland's win over Miami last week. He grew up a Maryland fan, but nothing could prepare him for the excitement he witnessed in the Terps' opening win.
"It was definitely a big win for them," Riddle said. "Being there, I had a reall good feeling, knowing I'm going to be there next year. Coach Edsall is really turning things around there. He's starting a new program, and just making Maryland—it's going to be a top school coming up."
In addition to meeting with Edsall, he talked with the entire coaching staff as well.
"I talked to all the coaches before the game," Riddle added. "I got to sit down and talk with (defensive line) coach (Greg) Gattuso, my recruiting coach. I also talked to coach (Andre) Powell, the running backs coach."
In the process, he's getting to know fellow members of his 2012 recruiting class.
"I know a couple of the recruits, I don't know all of them yet," Riddle said. "I was just talking, introducing myself, getting to know my future teammates."
And the uniforms, of course, were also a big draw.
"It was awesome going down there," Riddle said. "I got to go on the field, and be real up close. The new uniforms are awesome. They have like 36 different combinations. The ones they came out with are definitely awesome."
Linganore takes on Westminster on Friday night. Riddle will be back in College Park for the West Virginia game on Saturday.
