Stefan Houston brings a unique blend of size and speed, and haas out up some astronomical numbers at receiver so far this season. He is coming to College Park as a linebacker.

Maryland was hoping to get some good news in the form of a win over Temple Saturday. Instead, they got a taste of good news early on Friday, as speedy Clarksburg (MD) linebacker Stefan Houston committed to the Terps.

"It's a great win for Stefan and a great win for Maryland,"Clarksburg head coach Larry Hurd Jr. said. "He's one of the leading receivers in the area and one of the top tacklers as well. They are getting a special player."

Hurd said the Terps coaching staff is recruiting Houston to be he Star linebacker, similar to what Kenny Tate is doing for the Terps this year. Hurd said the coaching staff did a nice job of connecting his his star player.

"He loved Coach Edsall, coach (Tom) Brattan and (assistant recruiting coordinator Ryan) Steinberg," Hurd added. "To show the level of commitment they had to him, Coach Edsall was at our first game."

Though he is coming to Maryland as a linebacker, Houston has put up sky-rocketing numbers as a receiver this year. In three games, he has 18 catches for 361 yards and five touchdowns. He had a 10-catch performance in week two against Walter Johnson, along with two scores. He kicked off his senior year with three touchdown catches against Demascus.
