Official Visit Primer

Maryland will have a few official visitors on campus for this weekend's game with Boston College.

McCoy is a 6-5, 265-pound defensive end prospect out of St. Petersburg (FL) Gibbs High School, who is under first-year head coach Antonio Knox.

McCoy has helped the Gladiators to a 3-5 record this season. Gibbs started off 3-0, but has been decimated with injuries in recent weeks. McCoy consistently draws a double-team from opponents this season.

Dowdy is a 6-4, 222-pound linebacker out of Akron (OH) North High School. A couple weeks ago, we reported that Glenville (OH) defensive lineman Alex Pace was hearing from Maryland. It's evident with Dowdy coming in for a visit, the Terps' presence is building in Ohio in the first year of Randy Edsall's tenure.

Dowdy also doubles as a receiver for the Vikings. In fact, he's also taken some snaps at quarterback and running back this seaason. He helped his team to a 20-12 win over Akron East on Thursday night. Dowdy also took an official visit to Iowa State earlier this season.
